Two more mistakes new home buyers make and how to avoid them:
Many accept delays without a fight
I’ve heard of many new condo and house buyers dealing with delays when it comes to the completion of their home. In the past, builders were not required to give any reasons or justify their delays. Thanks to new laws, the builder is required to provide clear dates for completion in the purchase agreement. If an extension is required or a date is missed, the buyer now has the choice to agree to the new terms, ask for compensation, or just get out of the deal. No matter what, if a builder proposes a delay, speak to your lawyer to make sure you are treated fairly.
Don’t forget you could be moving into a construction zone
Which phase will you be moving into for your new home? If it’s phase one of three, expect some noise while they build the other two. The dust and dirt makes for bad air quality and no one likes waking up to the sound of drills and hammers. You can also expect to be inconvenienced by construction on your roads and travel routes. Be prepared for what to expect, and how long to expect it for.
